Why?
For years, humanity has tried to determine and understand what holds everything together—what is at the core of the universe. We are almost universally intrigued by metaphysics, the ultimate answer to the question, "Why?"The Renaissance declared religion a dead end and lifted up reason. Modernity is quickly dying because truth has become relevant. Post-modernity assumes there is no meta-narrative—no over-arching story holding it all together. Yet people are still searching for purpose and meaning.
What if love is the thread which flows through the universe and weaves this intricate tapestry of humanity?
Throughout all time, in the midst of our varied explorations for meaning, stories of selfless love have given hope to human kind and inspired ordinary individuals to evoke extraordinary change in the world.
The Broken Heart Manifesto is an invitation for our global community to explore the possibility that selfless love is our meta-narrative.
As for myself, I believe God is Love, Jesus Christ is that Love embodied, and the Holy Spirit is that Love kindled in my soul. This is the context in which I take up the Broken Heart Manifesto.
Selfless love is a wildfire. It cannot be contained. No one can determine its path. And so, with great fear, humility, and hope, I entrust this manifesto into your hands. I cannot and will not dictate where the manifesto will take you.
May our hearts be broken.
